Lake Eacham
Swim in the beautiful volcanic crater lake with its deep emerald waters or go for a 3km walk around its perimeter where you may spot a musky rat-kangaroo.
Surrounded by World-Heritage Rainforest, this lake is a great bird watching area. Look into the weeping fig canopy at the lake side car park to view fig parrots. Listen for the distinctive calls of the catbird and tooth-billed bowerbird.
Walk down to the turtle viewing platform and watch for a Boyd’s Forest Dragon and of course, turtles. Bring a picnic or use the free BBQs. Toilet facilities available.

Lake Barrine
Drive east from Yungaburra to Lake Barrine, Crater Lakes National Park. Since the 1920s, visitors have experienced the pleasures of the Tea House Devonshire tea and a lake cruise. This is the larger of the two crater lakes.
You can go for a 5km walk along its perimeter through remnant rainforest, there are a few resting spots along the ways with nice views across the lake. Take a cruise on the lake and enjoy the commentary while viewing sunbathing pythons, duck, eels, and turtles to name a few. If you don’t want to go on a long, take a short stroll to the 1,100 year old Twin Kauri Pines. Picnic and toilet facilities available. Bring your camera and binoculars for bird watching.

Lake Tinaroo – Tinaburra
A fisherman’s paradise. Bring your boat and fishing gear to Lake Tinaroo to catch the iconic Barramundi.
This is also a great spot to water ski, picnic and play family sports such as soccer on the grassy shores of the lake.
